St. Mary's Secondary School, Yola, formally opened the First Term of the 2026/2027 academic session with the traditional Opening Mass, celebrated on Friday, 18 September 2026 at St. Mary's Church.
In keeping with a cherished school tradition, every term begins with the Holy Eucharist, gathering the entire school community — students, teaching and non-teaching staff — to commit the session to God and to seek His guidance for the months of learning ahead.
The Mass was celebrated by the Principal, Rev. Fr. Gaga, who in his homily welcomed students back to school and urged them to approach the new term with discipline, diligence and a spirit of service, reminding them that sound academic work and strong moral character go hand in hand.
Students attended in their house colours, filling the church in a colourful display of unity, and the school choir led the congregation in worship.
